Jasper, Copy.ai, and Writesonic launched around the same idea: let AI draft your marketing copy so you don't start from a blank page. Six years later they're three different products aimed at three different buyers, and the price gap between the cheapest and the most expensive option is now roughly fifty to one. Picking the wrong one means paying for machinery you'll never turn on, or outgrowing your plan in a month.

I compared all three on what they actually are in October 2026, not what their launch hype promised. Pricing is from published pages and current third-party checks, marked "at time of writing" because these pages change often.

1. Jasper: the premium marketing platform

What it does: Jasper is now an AI marketing platform aimed at teams. The core is a Canvas workspace with Chat, agents for standard campaign workflows, brand voices trained on your own samples, knowledge assets the models can pull from, and audiences to keep messaging consistent.

Pricing at time of writing: Pro costs $69 a month per seat billed monthly, or $59 a month billed annually. You get one seat, Canvas, Chat, workflow agents, 2 Brand Voices, 3 Audiences, and 5 Knowledge assets. Business is custom pricing quoted by sales, requires a 12-month minimum, and layers on GEO, translation and deep-research agents, custom agents, API and MCP access, and SSO. A 7-day free trial is available. There is no free tier.

Who it's for: Marketing teams that produce a lot of on-brand content and can name the person in charge of the brand voice. The brand voice feature is the reason teams pay: feed it your style guide and samples, and output arrives sounding like you, not like a chatbot.

The honest limitation: The per-seat pricing is the whole story. At $708 a year for one seat on the annual plan, a solo blogger pays for team infrastructure they'll never touch. Some advanced Business features also consume usage credits on top of the subscription, so heavy API or research use can push costs above the headline price. And older reviews referencing Creator or Teams plans describe a pricing structure Jasper has since retired; only the current two-plan structure counts.

2. Copy.ai: the go-to-market automation pivot

What it does: Copy.ai made the sharpest turn of the three. It started as a short-form copy generator and rebuilt itself around go-to-market workflows: outbound prospecting sequences, prospect research, sales enablement content, and CRM-connected automations. A chat workspace with access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google covers general writing.

Pricing at time of writing: The self-serve entry is the Chat plan at $29 a month billed monthly (about $24 a month on annual billing). It includes 5 seats, unlimited words in chat, unlimited chat projects, and multi-model access. Above that sit workflow and enterprise tiers that climb into four figures a month for large automation. There is also a free plan with limited workflow runs, useful for testing.

Who it's for: Sales and revenue teams whose writing problem is really a volume-and-process problem. If your week runs on 500 personalized outreach emails and prospect research briefs, the workflow side of Copy.ai is built exactly for that job.

The honest limitation: The product now speaks the language of pipelines, not prose. A freelancer who just wants help with blog posts will find most of the platform's depth sitting unused, and the jump from the Chat plan to the workflow tiers is steep. If you don't need CRM-connected automation, you're paying for a different product's engine.

3. Writesonic: the budget pick that grew an SEO arm

What it does: Writesonic kept its focus on writing but broadened into content performance. The platform combines Article Writer 6.0, which produces long-form articles with live web research, with SEO tools, site audits, and newer brand-visibility tracking across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. It reads as a content system with a writer inside, not a writing app with extras.

Pricing at time of writing: The AI writer's Individual plan runs about $19 a month billed monthly or $16 a month billed annually, with unlimited word generation, Brand Voice, and the Semrush integration. The Team plan is roughly $40 to $45 a seat a month. The separate AI-visibility product starts much higher: Starter at $99 a month ($79 annual), Basic at $249 ($199), Growth at $499 ($399). A free tier with 25 credits exists and needs no credit card.

Who it's for: Solo creators and small teams who live on organic traffic and want writing plus SEO in one subscription. It's the cheapest way into a serious AI writer, and the unlimited-words shift (away from the old credit system) removes the counting that used to make low-tier plans awkward.

The honest limitation: Reviews consistently note a setup cost: getting the brand voice calibrated takes a few hours before output sounds like you. And Writesonic now sells two different products under one roof. Make sure you know which pricing page you're reading, because the writer ($16 a month) and the visibility tracker ($99 a month) are not the same subscription.

Verdict: who should pick which

Solo bloggers and freelancers on a budget: Writesonic. The Individual plan undercuts both rivals by a wide margin, unlimited words means no per-article math, and the SEO tooling is genuinely useful if your traffic comes from Google.

Marketing teams that need brand voice at scale: Jasper. The Pro plan is the only one here designed around governance, and the brand voice and knowledge assets are the features reviewers cite when they stay. Budget for per-seat costs honestly.

Sales and outbound teams: Copy.ai. The Chat plan is cheap for 5 seats, and the workflow automation is the only one of the three that treats prospecting as the core job rather than an afterthought.

Not sure yet: Start free. Copy.ai's free plan and Writesonic's no-card free tier let you test output quality on your actual content before spending anything. Jasper's 7-day trial fills the same role for teams.
